ROLE OVERVIEW

The Director of Franchise Development is responsible for leading the sales process from initial solicitation through contract completion for both traditional and non-traditional development by recruiting qualified franchisees and licensees. S/he will demonstrate the ability to coach franchisee and licensee prospects through the discovery process, financing resolution and market development while complying with all Bonchon policies, franchise regulatory requirements, local, state, and federal laws. S/he will be a passionate and vibrant brand ambassador for Bonchon and will manage Manager-level employee(s) within the department. The Director of Franchise Development will work closely with the SVP of Development on strategic initiatives and goal achievement.

The Director of Franchise Development will demonstrate interpersonal and relationship building skills amongst franchisee prospects, licensee prospects, peers, and other departments. S/he will possess vast knowledge of the industry and the ability to make independent decisions with discretion. High emotional intelligence and strong business acumen will be critical skills for this role to build strong work relationship and make sound business decisions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepare and execute annual “go to market” development strategies considering market demographics, location, brand strength and penetration for all channels of franchise and license business
· Work with the various teams and brands to develop a scalable solution for franchise and license development
· Execute yearly sales objectives with regular tracking, progress and pipeline reporting
· Recruit, screen and evaluate qualified franchisees and licensees based on their development ability, operational skill level, and financial qualifications
· Lead and conduct “Discovery Day” training and onboarding for franchisees ensuring they understand our brand, vision, and mission as well as gaining understanding of their needs for success
· General prospecting of opportunity via B2B networking relationships, Trade Shows, seminars, development agreements, cold calling, advertising channels, etc.
· Build and maintain relationships with all levels of the business and decision makers for collaboration on all aspects of existing, potential, and future projects
· Participate in business reviews with existing franchisees and licensees to further develop relationships
· Educate the franchisee and license prospects on steps of the development process, including application criteria, required forms and business procedures
· Guide applicants throughout the process successfully obtaining signed franchise development agreement
· Assist teammates to ensure a project’s timetable is met for a successful store opening, utilizing a development pipeline in a timely manner
· Keep apprised of franchising, licensing and restaurant industry trends and activity

SKILLS & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Master’s preferred)
· 7-10 years of Sales or Franchising & Licensing experience required
· 25% Travel required
· Organization, prioritization, negotiation, and multi-tasking skills
· Effective written and oral communication skills
· Engaging and impactful presentation skills
· Proficient Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
· Bilingual is plus (English and Korean/Chinese)
