JOB TITLE: Corporate Paralegal

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the SVP of Franchise Development, the Corporate Paralegal will assist the Executive team with all aspects of the business in legal advisement and processing a wide range of corporate transactions in the franchise and restaurant industry. The Paralegal is responsible for coordinating, preparing, and maintaining legal documents related to but not limited to franchising, employment law, copyrighting, and other legal matters and activities. S/he should be detail oriented, organized, timely, and work well independently as well as part of a team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with external Counsel on past, existing, and upcoming legal matters
  • Work with Human Resources and IT to create, communicate, and maintain internal and public-facing employment law compliance and data privacy policies, standards and procedures and define related internal policy guidelines
  • Assist Franchise Development team with the franchise disclosure process and other franchisor compliance issues for potential prospective and current franchisees, including filing of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), FDD amendments, and renewals
  • Administer and issue all Franchise Agreements and related documents, such as amendments, default notices, termination, and settlement agreements
  • Manage the franchise compliance process, including franchise ownership, entity formation, resolutions and partnership documents, Franchise Agreement key dates and milestones
  • Basic maintenance and/or monitoring of certificates, leases, and other commercial contracts
  • Support corporate team on general Company legal matters, e.g., entity maintenance filings, business licenses, an employment law as needed
  • Communicates and provides other departments with information regarding Company policies and franchise agreement information  Serves as primary liaison for franchisee inquiries related to various franchise related transactions
  • Effectively and clearly communicates with franchisees regarding transactions and policy details
  • Maintains all legal documentation, electronic files and databases, to ensure current and accurate information is available for audits
  • Support Executive team by delivering reports and preparing presentations to business leaders on compliance tools and processes
  • Gather, review and analyze internal records to support employment legal matters
  • Handle other responsibilities as assigned
